DeAnna Turner Named FCS 2022-23 School Professional of the Year

18

DeAnna Turner, high dosage tutoring paraprofessional at Campbell Elementary, was named the 2022-2023 FCS School Professional of the Year (SPOTY). All FCS school professionals were eligible to apply. A SPOTY selection committee narrowed the applicants to three semi-finalists from the elementary, middle and high school levels.

"Mrs. Turner has been a great asset to Campbell and the community," said Principal Arthur Davis. "She is a perfectionist on the job and aims to positively impact students. She's truly one of our building leaders and a great representative for Professional of the Year for Campbell ES."

Selection criteria included measurable contributions to the continuous improvement of student learning and the school environment through demonstration of the PKES standards, knowledge in their area of specialty, creating a culture of respect and caring, leading professional activities at the school, district, and/or state and national level, and maintaining a record of superior performance.

In her application, Ms. Turner said, "In my almost six years of service, I have learned that students will give you their best when you lift them up and hold them accountable for contributing to their success. Each day I walk into Campbell, I desire to return the feeling that Campbell gave me at their age. My teachers made me feel loved, supported, and prepared. Most of all, I left everyday proud of myself. I loved learning, and I loved my teachers. I still remember their names, the way their rooms looked, and the instructional gems they deposited in me. I desire to be that long-lasting, loving memory to every student and peer I serve."
