Calhoun City Schools recently held its annual Spring School Governance Team (SGT) Training on March 12. The event emphasized the involvement of parents, educators, and community members in local school decision-making processes.

The SGTs play a crucial role within the district's Charter System by contributing to school improvement efforts, budgeting, and academic initiatives. The training covered effective communication strategies to enhance collaboration and engagement, strategic planning, school improvement priorities, flexibility and innovation for student opportunities, and strengthening community partnerships.

Superintendent Dr. Michele Taylor commented on the significance of being part of a Charter System: "We are fortunate to be a Charter System, which provides the flexibility to innovate and enhance opportunities for all students." She highlighted that the training offered an opportunity to reflect on progress and strengthen communication strategies. Dr. Taylor acknowledged the dedication of various teams and boards involved in shaping the future of schools: "The dedication of our Board of Education, School and System Governance Team members, and College & Career Academy Board of Directors plays a vital role in shaping the future of our schools and ensuring success for all students."
