Calhoun City Schools in Calhoun, Georgia, has announced the recipients of the 2025 Exemplary English Learner and Educator Awards. The Georgia Department of Education’s English Learner Language Programs presents these awards annually to honor one exceptional English Learner student and an ESOL educator from school districts in Georgia. This year's honorees, Mell Salinas Folleco and Mrs. Cassey LeBoeuf, will each receive a Certificate of Recognition signed by State School Superintendent Richard Woods.

Mell Salinas Folleco, a senior at Calhoun High School, has been recognized for her remarkable contributions to the school. She is known for her strong work ethic and positive outlook, managing a demanding academic schedule effectively. Teachers describe Mell as inspirational, a peer supporter, and a valuable helper to teachers with translation and other acts of kindness, leaving a lasting impression on the school community.

In the field of education, Mrs. Cassey LeBoeuf, an ESOL teacher at Calhoun Early Learning Academy, has earned praise for her commitment and devotion to students and colleagues. She supports classroom instruction, mentors fellow educators, and spearheads school initiatives. Her dedication has played a crucial role in the success of young learners and the enhancement of the school environment.
