Christian Heritage School Inc issued the following announcement on July 16
Christian Heritage School (CHS) is pleased to announce the naming of John Thomas (JT) Horton as the school’s Director of Facilities as well as the Youth Sports Director, effective July 19, 2021.
Horton joins the CHS leadership team following his four-year tenure as the Manager and Director of Golf Instruction at the Hamilton Spine Health and Sport Golf Performance Center. He and his wife, Sydnie, reside in Dalton with their two sons, Brooks and Griffin. Horton holds a B.S. in Business Management from Berry College. Prior to his service to the Dalton community, Horton led elite-level golf programs at Clemson University, Tulane University, and Georgia Southern University.
“I am thrilled to add JT to our administrative team,” said Head of School Kent Harrison. “His background in leadership, attention to detail, and strong work ethic make him the perfect fit to step into the Director of Facilities role. His collegiate experiences will prove vital as we strive to take great care of our campus and begin crafting a long-term campus master plan.”
In addition to serving as the school’s next Director of Facilities, Horton will also hold the title of Youth Sports Director. A new addition to CHS, this role will seek to enhance the athletic experiences that K-5 students have while at CHS through involvement in recreational activities and leagues across the Dalton community.
“JT has a passion for athletics and recognizes the value in providing quality experiences that foster a love of sports and healthy competition within our youth,” said Harrison. “As we continue to work towards fulfilling our mission of Educating Children to Serve Christ, adding strong Christian leaders like JT is exciting. Our community will greatly benefit from his efforts.”
Over the past several years, the college-preparatory, independent, Christian school has encountered unprecedented growth in enrollment and programming. CHS’s impact continues to spread across Northwest Georgia, partnered with a consistent vision of advancing the school’s mission and four pillars: Academics that Challenge, Athletics that Build, Arts that Inspire, and Active Faith that Endures.
“There are some really exciting things happening at CHS, and I am honored to be joining such a special group of people,” said Horton. “I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to working with and serving the wonderful faculty, staff, students, and families of CHS.”
