Calhoun City Schools is preparing for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year with a focus on enhancing safety and improving traffic flow during arrival and dismissal times. A new plan has been drafted to separate car rider lines for Calhoun Primary School (CPS) and Calhoun Elementary School (CES), which will result in a change to CPS's schedule while CES's schedule remains unchanged.

Starting in August 2025, Calhoun Primary School will begin at 7:30 AM, aligning with CELA, with drop-off starting at 7:00 AM and dismissal at 2:10 PM. All car riders will enter via Linda Lane. Meanwhile, Calhoun Elementary School will start at 8:05 AM, with drop-off beginning at 7:30 AM and dismissal at 2:45 PM. Car riders for CES will enter through Curtis Parkway.

The assignment of entry points aims to streamline traffic by operating two separate car-rider lines, ensuring a smooth flow of vehicles for each school. The plan also includes separate bus routes for CPS and CES, allowing ample space on buses and creating a safer experience for both drivers and students. Additionally, the rear parking lot will be reserved exclusively for bus traffic to provide a safer pickup/drop-off location.

For families with students attending both CPS and CES, carpools are instructed to drop off in the morning with CPS and pick up in the afternoon with CES. Supervised holding areas will be available to accommodate these students.

Detailed routing maps and additional information are expected to be shared before Spring Break for review. All other school drop-off and pick-up times will remain unchanged for the upcoming school year.

Questions regarding the new procedures can be directed to ccs@calhounschools.org.
