Thirteen students from Rome High School's FCCLA Chapter recently took part in two regional competitions. Twelve of these students participated in the Region 1 STAR Competition held at Ridgeland High School, where they presented projects on topics like repurposing and redesigning used items, developing wellness plans for students, and providing a Little Library to Chick-fil-A for children's books.

Additionally, student Diego Orellana showcased his skills in the Region 1 Knife Skills event at Dalton Career and College Academy.

All thirteen participants have qualified to move forward to the state-level competitions set to take place at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in March.

The students advancing to state include Joshua Eaves, Diego Orellana, Leslie Vicente-Ramos, Cierra Mobbs, Samantha Acevedo, Alexa Acevedo, Desiree Garcia, Ashlyn Ixmay Vicente, Madison Major, Addison Marshall, Lashmi Rodriguez, Nancy Puac, and Melanie Ramirez-Sian.

"We are very proud of the hard work and great character that these students have displayed," said Rome High School FCCLA Co-Advisor Tammie Price. "We look forward to competing with the best students from around the state of Georgia in March."
