Rome High School's College and Career Academy received a significant contribution from Atrium Health Floyd with the donation of an ambulance. The donation was officially made during a gathering on Tuesday afternoon, attended by teachers, administrators, and representatives from Atrium Health Floyd.
The ambulance is adorned with graphics representing both Rome High School and Atrium Health Floyd. It will serve as a practical tool for students in the Fire and EMT Pathway as well as the Healthcare Pathway, providing them hands-on experience.
Kurt Stuenkel, President of Atrium Health Floyd, expressed the importance of this partnership. “I think this is great. We really value our relationship with our school partners and certainly with the Rome City Schools. We actually have a clinic here (at the CCA) and we provide school nurses in all of the schools and athletic trainers,” he stated. “But it's also nice to have this rolling symbol of our relationship.”
Marores Perry, Director of CTAE and Student Services at Rome High School, highlighted how beneficial the ambulance will be for students' learning experiences. “This is amazing. It not only shows the great partnership that we have with Atrium Health Floyd, but it's also giving our students so many more options to get real-life applications to what they're learning in the classroom,” she said.
Stuenkel emphasized the role of the College and Career Academy in introducing potential careers to students. “I think it's very important because we want to converse with kids as they're considering their careers. That's the whole purpose of the College and Career Academy to introduce potential careers for kids,” he noted.
The event concluded with attendees exploring the features of the ambulance, turning on its lights and siren.
