Rome High School's show choir, Grand Finale, achieved significant success at the Diamond Classic Show Choir Competition in Albertville, Alabama. The group triumphed in the Mixed Division Tier 3 category, securing awards for Best Overall Effect, Best Choreography, and Best Vocals. This victory marked their first-place finish over six other schools.

Dr. Cody Goss, Director of Grand Finale, expressed his satisfaction with the win: “Winning at Albertville brings a huge boost of confidence for Grand Finale. We have always performed well at Albertville, but in year's past, the result has not been to our liking.” He noted that this win felt like "a weight has been lifted from the group."

Grand Finale's performance was inspired by the classic board game Clue and resonated well with judges. Dr. Goss praised his students' dedication: “This is my third year with Grand Finale, and this has been the most cohesive group that I've directed.”

The choir plans to review judges' feedback to refine their performance ahead of future competitions. They will host their own event at Rome High School on February 22nd and participate as an exhibition-only entry. Rome Middle School’s show choir, Grand Illusion, which placed second in its division at Albertville, will also perform.

Looking forward to upcoming competitions in Nashville and Tifton before concluding their season on March 13th at the city auditorium, Dr. Goss mentioned potential challenges: “We need community partners to come alongside and help us financially because road trips are very expensive.”
