Rome City Schools has announced that registration for its Pre-Kindergarten program will commence on Monday, January 27, and end on Thursday, February 13. Registration will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day at the respective schools.
Pre-K classes are available at Anna K. Davie, Elm Street, Main, West Central, and West End Elementary Schools within the district. Completed registration packets must be submitted by February 13 at 2:00 p.m. to be included in the lottery process.
Enrollment for the Pre-K program is determined through a lottery-based tiered system. "Tier I" includes applicants living within the school's required attendance zone. "Tier II" consists of applicants residing inside all Rome City Schools' attendance zones, while "Tier III" includes those living outside these zones. The process begins with Tier I applications; if slots remain open, Tier II applications are considered next, followed by Tier III. Unselected applications will be placed on a waitlist.
Parents or guardians must present several documents when registering their children for Pre-K. Required documents include parent or guardian identification (with guardianship documentation), the student's birth certificate (children must be four years old on or before September 1), and proof of Georgia residency and attendance zone (such as a utility bill). Note that driver's licenses and cell phone bills are not acceptable forms of proof.
For further information regarding attendance zones or other inquiries, parents can visit their nearest RCS elementary school or contact the district office at 706-236-5050.
