The December Board of Education meeting highlighted several achievements within the Calhoun City Schools (CCS). The session commenced with Board Chair Rhoda Washington leading the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an invocation from Board Secretary Becky Gilbert-George.

Dr. Brandi Hayes, Director of College & Career Programs, acknowledged the accomplishments of Calhoun High FFA National Winners at a recent national competition. Under the guidance of Dr. Trish Williams, these students shared their future plans and presented a holiday gift to the board from the CHS greenhouse.

Calhoun City Police Chief Tony Pyle recognized School Resource Officer Sergeant Dawn Graham with the 2024 Medal of Valor award for her dedication and bravery in protecting schools and the community. Her recognition was met with a standing ovation.

Additionally, it was announced that there will be no school on Wednesday, Dec. 18, as resources are allocated for transportation to support CCS's participation in a State Championship game.
