Board recognizes student achievements and approves new school calendar

The Board of Education meeting commenced with Calhoun Elementary School's cross country team leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Banks Layson delivered an invocation, followed by participants sharing positive updates, setting a tone for recognizing achievements in the district.

Carter Sutton and Katherine Castillo Alarcon were honored as the 2024 REACH Scholarship recipients. Their recognition was celebrated alongside veteran REACH scholars and peers who supported them as they embarked on this new journey.

Assistant Superintendent and CFO Dee Wrisley received recognition for Excellence in Financial Reporting for her work on the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Her dedication to maintaining financial integrity within the district was acknowledged.

Calhoun Elementary School's cross country teams were also celebrated for their recent success at the Trion Cross Country Meet, highlighting the talent and dedication of student-athletes.

The 2025-2026 school calendar received official approval. Community feedback was acknowledged, and the approved calendar is available online.

The board expressed pride in students, staff, and community members for demonstrating excellence across various areas.
