Eagles Continue Breaking Records at BU Hemery Invitational
The Emory University indoor track & field team traveled to Boston, MA on Friday for the BU Hemery Valentine where they turned in exemplary performances in each of the four events they competed in.
Senior Annika Urban continues to set records in an Eagles uniform as she registered a time of 9:28.14 in the 3,000m run which is the fastest time in program history, beating out the previous school record by over 30 seconds. Urban beat out Aileen Rivell's record of 9:59.35 which was set in 2016. Urban's time is the second fastest in DIvision III this season as she is securely in nationals contention.
The men's DMR team of junior Scott Masterson, freshman Bryce Wurster, sophomore Marcus Cheema and junior Spencer Watry established a new program record for the second consecutive meet as they registered a time of 9:53.00. The time of 9:53.00 stands as the third fastest time in Division III this season.
Junior Libby Ranocha continues to improve over the course of the season as she ran a personal best time of 2:12.47 in the 800m run which sees her with the second fastest time in program history. Ranocha's time is also good for the third fastest time in Division III to this point in the season.
Competing in the 400m dash, sophomore Dashiel Tao Harris showed out crossing the finish line in a time of 57.62 seconds which puts her in nationals contention with the 16th fastest time in the nation this year.
The Eagles will continue to compete at the BU Hemery Valentine tomorrow while another portion of the team will be in Birmingham, AL for the Samford Open tomorrow.
