Berry College issued the following announcement on Sept. 27.
The Berry College Fine Arts Department recently hosted an artist talk with sculptor Jason Tanner Young.
Young’s solo exhibition “Depth Finder” at the Moon Gallery engages in a wide variety of materials and techniques to reference a range of internal states. The work embraces the network of vessels and highlights the complex system of everyday objects. He incorporates cast bronze pieces into steel and wood compositions, which creates new hybridized sculptures.
Young received his bachelor’s in fine arts from the University of Texas at Tyler before obtaining his master’s in fine arts in sculpture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is an assistant professor of art and director of the sculpture concentration at the University of Montevallo in Alabama.
