Calhoun Middle School hosts annual spelling bee with thirteen student participants

Calhoun Middle School held its annual Spelling Bee on January 16, 2025, showcasing the academic skills of its students. The event saw participation from thirteen students across grades seven and eight.

The seventh-grade participants included Jose Briones, Audrey Dobbs, Kalil Monsour, and Dax Murphy. From the eighth grade were Jan Soto Caban, Dodd Cornelison, Julia Jensen, Ayden Lampe, Isabella Pena, Sarah Pass, Hajrah Qureshi, Samarah Texeira, and Tanisha Venkatesu.

The selection process for the competition involved a preliminary round open to all middle school students. After several rounds of spelling challenges, Ayden Lampe achieved third place while Sarah Pass secured second place. Dax Murphy was declared the overall winner of the Spelling Bee.

"Congratulations to our top three spellers," announced the school administration. These students will proceed to compete in the Calhoun City Schools District-Wide Spelling Bee scheduled for January 23rd.

Acknowledgment was given to parents, teachers, and administrators for their support in organizing such events. "Calhoun City Schools is proud to celebrate the achievements of our students in academics, arts, and athletics."
