Calhoun Elementary holds annual spelling bee with twenty-five participants

Calhoun Elementary School conducted its annual Spelling Bee on December 10, 2024. The event featured 25 students from grades four to six who qualified through a written assessment completed before Thanksgiving.

Fifth grader Alanna Hogan won the competition by correctly spelling "suffice." The top three finishers, including James Linn and Jayden Alvarez, will advance to the District Spelling Bee in January. They will compete against winners from the CMS Spelling Bee.

Principal comments included: "We are incredibly proud of these students and their dedication to academic excellence!"

The full list of qualifiers for the CES Spelling Bee included Kaitlyn Aplicano, Jayden Avila, Larsen Bishop, Evelyn Brook, Violet Coombe, Chelsea Errickson, Aiden Epps, Matthew Flores, Colman Hodgkins, Skylar Ingram, Trey Lee, GG Lewis, Alecsia Lopez, Eliam Marrquin, Jax McLemore, Dominic Massey, Tiffany Nguyen, GiGi Ortiz, Kylan Phillips, Maeve Price, Aryan Shrestha, Dietrich Smith Kinsley Stone and Ahmari Thompson.

The school expressed gratitude towards parents and staff for their support in making such events possible. Calhoun Elementary celebrates student achievements with pride.
