Municipal General Election for the City of Calhoun

City of Calhoun issued the following announcement on July 19

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-132 and O.C.G.A. 21-2-9 (b) a municipal general election will be held for the City of Calhoun on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Calhoun Recreation Department located at 601 River Street, Calhoun, Georgia from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Qualifying for the municipal general election shall be held at the Calhoun City Hall located at 226 S. Wall Street, Calhoun, Georgia, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 and ending at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.  The hours of qualifying each day will be from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Those positions that are up for election are:

2021 Qualifying Packet – Calhoun Board of Education Download

Early voting will begin on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 and will end on Friday, October 29, 2021.  Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  We will have early voting on Saturday, October 16, 2021 and Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9 a m. until 5 p.m. in the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office. The Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office is located (across the street from the Post Office) at 408 Court Street, Calhoun, Georgia. 

To request an absentee ballot by mail contact the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-629-7781.  The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is October 22, 2021. 

The last day to register to vote for the municipal general election is Monday, October 4, 2021.  Registration is available at the Gordon County Board of Elections Office, City Hall or other locations as required by Georgia Law.
