Omar Alejandro Garcia, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, has been charged in a head-on collision that resulted in the deaths of a set of parents and left their 1-year-old daughter seriously injured.

Garcia, 30, has been charged with two counts of felony vehicular homicide after a high-speed case ended in a crash on Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome that killed Kadrian Harris and Malik Henderson, and seriously injured their daughter, Riley Harris.

The incident occurred when Garcia, driving a powerful Dodge Charger at around 100 mph, collided head-on with the victims' vehicle after evading police.

Riley was airlifted to a hospital in Atlanta, where her condition remains serious.

Garcia faces multiple charges, including DUI and attempting to elude police, and is currently held without bond due to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

The crash has drawn significant attention due to Garcia's prior arrests.

Garcia, who has been arrested at least four times since 2012, is facing multiple charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, DUI, driving without a license, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving and driving too fast for conditions.

Law enforcement sources confirm that on March 10, 2012, he was arrested for possession of alcohol by a minor, with those charges dismissed, and possession of marijuana, which was not prosecuted.

On Jan. 22, 2014, he was charged with driving without a license.

Most recently, on March 16, 2023, he was arrested for purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of marijuana and was convicted on April 20, 2023, receiving 12 months of probation, 20 hours of community service, and a fine of $875.

Rome is the hometown of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) who noted the incident in a Facebook post.

“This is an absolutely heartbreaking reality,” Taylor Greene wrote. “The child who miraculously survived this crash will grow up without its parents, and that is a tragedy we should not be forced to accept.”

Greene expressed her outrage at the situation, highlighting it as part of a troubling pattern.

“The sad truth is, this is not even the first time constituents of mine have been murdered by an illegal alien. I’m absolutely outraged,” she said.

Emphasizing the broader implications of this tragedy, Taylor Greene pointed to the national immigration policies.

“Georgia is not a border state. Northwest Georgia is hundreds of miles away from our Southern border. Yet it feels as if every state has become a border state under the current administration,” she said. “It’s Joe Biden and Border Czar Kamala Harris’s refusal to secure our borders that has transformed every state into a border state and every town into a border town.”

Taylor Greene did not hold back in her criticism of the Biden administration.

“The blood of these innocent Americans who were killed by this illegal alien are on the hands of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Secretary Mayorkas, and every open borders Democrat — and they are covered in it!” she said.

She went on to question how many more lives must be lost before action is taken.

“How many more Americans have to die before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris finally secure our borders and stop inviting people from every corner of the world into our country illegally?”

The congresswoman also called out Vice President Kamala Harris directly.

“Kamala Harris claims she wants to fix the problems at our Southern border,” Taylor Greene said. “She’s Vice President RIGHT NOW. If she really cared, she would have fixed this yesterday.”

Taylor Greene expressed her commitment to fighting for stricter border security measures, insisting that tragedies like the one in Rome should never happen again.

“My heart weighs heavy for the family affected by this tragedy,” Taylor Greene said. “I ask that you please join me in prayer for the victims, their family, and their friends. I especially ask you to join me in praying for the young child who will grow up in this world without her mother.”

As the community mourns, Taylor Greene has vowed to continue her fight for stronger immigration policies.

“I will never stop fighting to secure our borders and to ensure tragedies like this one are never able to happen again in America,” she said.
