FOIA Request Sent to Polk County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Polk County Election Department in Georgia on October 29, 2024. The request, issued by Rome Reporter, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought specific details about the methods used for counting votes during elections.

The information requested under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., included a detailed list of the methods used for vote counting. If manual counting is involved, an estimated number of people expected to work on election night was also requested.
