FOIA Request to Gordon County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As a part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Rome Reporter have requested specific records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq. The request was made in electronic format for convenience and efficiency.

The information sought pertains to the methods being used by the Gordon County Election Department to count votes in the upcoming election. If the counting process is manual, we have also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

Access to these public records is essential for us at Rome Reporter as it allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Gordon County Election Department and will keep our readers updated with any developments regarding this matter.
