Last week was a mixture of happy and sad (but mostly happy), as we celebrated the city’s Chief of Operations Brad Sutton on the occasion of his retirement after nearly 32 years of service! A retirement reception was held in Brad’s honor and a number of council members, staff and employees, former council members, and colleagues joined in the celebration. Most notably, Art Roman of Pro Cutters Lawnscapes, recognized Brad with a special leadership award, and Steven Holmes of The Big Green Sign Co. made and presented him with a street sign bearing his name! Many made remarks about Brad and he was lauded for his ingenuity, warmth, sincerity, loyalty, dedication and leadership over the years.

Brad joined the city in 1991 and worked as a superintendent in the city’s Public Works and Transportation division, before being promoted to deputy director and director. In January 2021 he was named chief of operations. He and his wife, Stacy, look forward to traveling and visiting their sons, daughters-in-law, and two grandsons with more frequency in the future.

Congratulations, Brad! Thank you for your dedication and service to the city of Conyers. We love you and wish you all the best in retirement!
