In the month of November, ALPLA Inc., a North American subsidiary of the global packaging manufacturer, the ALPLA Group, presented a total of seven STEM grants to high schools in the Georgia area.

With its North American headquarters based out of McDonough, GA, the company maintains a total of 17 US locations each committed to making a difference in communities near local operations. While principles and company purpose are rooted in developing potential and encouraging entrepreneurship, ALPLA’s keen support of STEM and STEM-based programs in Henry, Griffin, Spalding, and Fulton counties remain a key focus for the organization and for the future development of well-rounded students. 

Maritza Gilmore, Social Responsibility Lead, said, “It’s easy for youth to be redirected, and this is ALPLA’s main concern. Therefore, with funding from ALPLA grants, teachers can help kids remain focused and continue moving forward. One once said, “Courageous young people are always catalysts for reform.” It is vital that youth get the tools they need to change the world.”

2022 grant recipients included Locust Grove High School, Ola High School, (Robotics and Science Programs), Griffin High School, Spalding High School, Carver Early College, and Providence Christian Academy where each school submitted an application detailing the purpose for funding.

As ALPLA Inc. continues to enhance its educational outreach and relationships with nearby communities, educators have the chance to use the grant money to create or further establish programs that benefit the students. Schools like Carver High School in Atlanta, GA and Locust Grove High School in Henry County, GA use the grant for school robotics teams and group projects based in analytical thinking.

“Seeing the results of the investment motivates ALPLA to continue its efforts to continue supporting the STEM activities not only where ALPLA has the corporate office in GA but extending this extraordinary support to other states where ALPLA has presence.”

As more educational institutions continue to highlight the importance of STEM in curriculums, support for resources, experiences, and competitions will be needed. Moreover, creating opportunities by making funds available for the advancement of individual studies will remain a focus for the company.
