Floyd Medical Center issued the following announcement on Dec. 2
Floyd EMS, smiling children bearing gifts and Santa marked the season of giving at Saint Mary's Catholic School on Thursday for the annual Toys for Tots drive.
“Saint Mary's and Toys for Tots have given us a way to get involved in the community. We have been doing this for about a decade now and it is something we really look forward to," said Robby Hill, Assistant Director of EMS, which is part of the Atrium Health Floyd family of services.
Hill and a handful of other EMS team members were on hand to accept gifts from the students at the school, packing an EMS truck full of gifts for the Toys for Tots organization.
“Floyd really makes this event so special for us," said Christa Jackson, Director of Admissions and Advancement at the school. “It is a festive day for everybody."
EMS has been picking up toys at the school since the Marine Corps Reserve Armory closed its doors in Rome in late 2009, Jackson said.
