Floyd Medical Center issued the following announcement on Aug. 31
Todd Thompson, D.O., has joined the Floyd Primary Care network in Cedartown. His practice is located in the Medical Office Building at Polk Medical Center, 2370 Rockmart Hwy., Suite 100.
Dr. Thompson cares for patients of all ages, from newborns to senior adults. He will see patients for sick visits and annual physicals, and for chronic disease management, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), anxiety, depression, weight loss management and congestive heart failure.
He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, Alabama. He completed his family medicine residency at East Tennessee State University School of Medicine in Bristol, Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama.
Dr. Thompson has worked in health care for over 25 years. Prior to graduating medical school and completing his residency, Dr. Thompson worked as a registered nurse in intensive care units, including cardio-thoracic surgery ICU. His interests include woodworking, painting, drawing, mechanics, gardening, photography, hiking and biking.
Dr. Thompson joins the following providers at the Floyd Primary Care Medical Office Building location: Neil Gordon, M.D., Pamela Hearn, M.D., and Madison Whorton, PA-C.
