Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland has received a proficient evaluation from the Rome City Board of Education. The board assessed Dr. Holland on ten indicators, including student achievement, staff development, stakeholder engagement, and safety and operations. High marks were awarded in seven of these areas, and the review was finalized with a unanimous vote.

“Dr. Holland continues to show a strong commitment to Rome City Schools, and we are happy with the direction the district is going under his leadership,” said Rome City Board of Education Chair Faith Collins. “The board gave him a favorable evaluation. We feel that he is doing a good job of running the school district, and we look forward to seeing what the district achieves moving forward.”

The previous school year saw several achievements for Rome City Schools, including a record number of graduates from Rome High School. Several elementary schools were honored for academic success, and Rome Middle was named a Math Leader School by the Georgia Department of Education. Seven schools received a three-star climate rating or higher, and every school in the district was awarded the Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness. The district also focuses on the Literacy Before Life For Life initiative and has increased its fund balance while establishing a strong financial plan for sustainable growth.

“I’m honored to serve this school district,” Dr. Holland stated. “I’m grateful to our school board for allowing me to serve our students, staff, stakeholders, and school system. As a school governance team, we have worked collaboratively to create opportunities for all students. Also, we have made a conscious effort to invest in and support our staff. It has been a remarkable year of growth, progress, and sustained achievement for our district. I take immense pride in what we have accomplished together, fostering an environment where every student is empowered to reach their highest potential,” he added.

Dr. Holland expressed pride in the accomplishments achieved alongside teachers, students, staff, and administration: “Our teachers, students, staff, and administration are the best around, and I can’t wait to see the many achievements of our students and schools this school year.”
