U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has represented Georgia’s 14th district since 2021, used her social media platform on July 15, 2025, to criticize recent legislative actions in the House of Representatives and express opposition to certain measures related to Ukraine and digital currency.
In a post made at 13:09 UTC, Greene stated, “The same Republicans in the Rules Committee, who blocked the release of the Epstein files last night, also blocked my amendment to transfer munitions to Ukraine – a NON-NATO member nation. MAGA delivered the majority to Republicans and voted for no more U.S. involvement in”.
Later that day at 16:37 UTC, she commented on upcoming legislation concerning digital currency: “This week, the House is voting on the GENIUS Act which lays the groundwork for a layered Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) where Americans interact with stablecoins but behind the scenes there are the functional surveillance capabilities of a CBDC. The bill as written does”.
At 18:56 UTC on July 15, Greene further elaborated her stance by stating her vote against a procedural rule for this legislation: “I just voted NO on the Rule for the GENIUS Act because it does not include a ban on Central Bank Digital Currency and because Speaker Johnson did not allow us to submit amendments to the GENIUS Act. Americans do not want a government-controlled Central Bank Digital Currency.”
Greene has been an active figure in Congress since replacing Tom Graves in January 2021. She was born in Milledgeville, Georgia in 1974 and currently resides in Rome. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration earned in 1996, Greene has positioned herself as an outspoken critic within her party regarding issues such as U.S. foreign involvement and federal oversight over digital financial systems.
Her recent statements reflect ongoing debates within Congress about both support for Ukraine—a non-NATO country—and concerns over privacy implications tied to proposed central bank digital currencies.
