Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has reintroduced the Protect Children’s Innocence Act in the 119th Congress. This legislation, known as H.R. 3492, aims to criminalize genital mutilation, chemical castration, and all sex-change procedures performed on minors.

The act is intended to reinforce President Donald J. Trump’s executive order that bans gender transition procedures for minors. “Left-wing activists and medical institutions are targeting America’s children with dangerous drugs, disfiguring surgeries, and permanent sterilization,” stated Congresswoman Greene. She added that her bill seeks to prevent harm to children and hold those accountable who facilitate such procedures.

The House Judiciary Committee will mark up the bill tomorrow at 10 AM as a step toward a vote on the House floor.

When initially introduced in 2022, Congresswoman Greene was joined by Chloe Cole, who began “gender-affirming care” at age 13 and had a double mastectomy at 15 before detransitioning at 16. Chloe is now an advocate against irreversible harm to youth.

Key provisions of the Protect Children’s Innocence Act include:

– Criminalizing attempts to perform or facilitate genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration on minors with penalties of up to 10 years in federal prison and/or significant fines.
– Banning puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone treatments for children.
– Not allowing mental health disorders as justification for these procedures.
– Defining “chemical castration” and “genital or bodily mutilation” legally.
– Exemptions for certain genetic conditions or medical emergencies certified by a physician.

Cosponsors of this legislation include Crane, Finstad, Luna, Bice, Mary Miller, Crenshaw, McGuire, Kustoff, Biggs, Burlison, Tenney, Higgins, Brecheen, Nehls, Weber, Harris, Grothman, Hern, Collins Ogles Babin Clyde De La Cruz Hageman Owens Palmer Timmons Norman Max Miller Steube Jackson Riley Moore Comer Gill Baird McDowell Harshbarger Gooden.
