Marjorie Taylor Greene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 14th District since 2021, has recently made statements on social media concerning various international and domestic issues. Born in Milledgeville, Georgia, in 1974, Greene graduated from the University of Georgia in 1996 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and currently resides in Rome.

On June 8, 2025, Greene questioned the allocation of U.S. foreign aid funds via USAID by highlighting specific instances where she believes American tax dollars were misused. She wrote “Why should Congress cut USAID funding? THIS is what YOUR tax dollars have funded… Ukraine: Funded NGOs & media to help overthrow a pro-Russia govt in 2014. Syria: Funneled $15B+ into the civil war, backing opposition forces under ‘humanitarian aid.’ Brazil: Pushed”.

Later that day, at approximately 11:05 PM UTC on June 8, Greene expressed her gratitude towards former President Donald Trump by tweeting “Thank you @realDonaldTrump “.

In another post on June 9 at about 1:57 AM UTC, Greene shared an incident involving her visit to a Washington D.C. jail where she was denied access to check on American citizens reportedly held in solitary confinement. She compared this experience to Representative Maxine Waters being turned away by ICE while attempting to check on detainees described as “criminal illegals.” Greene stated “I was turned away from the DC jail when I went to check on AMERICAN CITIZENS being held in solitary confinement!! Maxine Waters is big mad she got turned away by ICE when she went to go check on her CRIMINAL ILLEGALS!! Democrats CRIMINAL ILLEGALS!!!”
