Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia’s 14th District has introduced new legislation titled the Making American Elections Great Again Act. The bill seeks to change how congressional representation is determined and aims to address concerns about noncitizens’ influence in federal elections.

“For years, Democrats have flooded our country with millions of illegal aliens and used them to rig our political system—now they’re saying the quiet part out loud. They want illegals for redistricting. That’s not democracy, it’s foreign interference,” said Congresswoman Greene. “My bill puts a stop to it.”

Currently, the U.S. Census counts both citizens and noncitizens when determining congressional apportionment. According to Greene, this practice results in states like California and New York having increased representation in Congress, while states that enforce immigration laws see reduced influence.

The proposed legislation would mandate an immediate census that only counts U.S. citizens for apportionment purposes. States would then be required to redraw congressional districts based on this new data, with the next census scheduled ten years after completion of the revised count.

The bill also includes provisions requiring proof of citizenship and photo identification for voting in all federal elections. It introduces criminal penalties for distributing ballots without verifying citizenship status and for anyone assisting noncitizens in voting in federal elections.

“This bill is about fair representation, national security, and protecting the vote of every single American citizen,” Greene continued. “Illegal aliens should never be counted for congressional seats or allowed to vote in our elections—period. That’s not controversial, it’s common sense.”

Greene referenced recent comments by Democrat Rep. Yvette Clarke regarding redistricting as evidence of efforts to expand political power through noncitizen populations.

“Democrats are importing voters and stealing districts. My bill ends the scam once and for all,” Greene concluded. “We must pass my Making American Elections Great Again Act to ensure our elections are for Americans only.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene has previously won her seat by wide margins, including victories over Shawn Harris in 2024 (64.4% to 35.6%), Marcus Flowers in 2022 (65.9% to 34.1%), and Kevin Van Ausdal in 2020 (74.7% to 25.3%).
