Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a U.S. Representative from Georgia, posted a series of tweets on August 12, 2025, criticizing security measures implemented at the U.S. Capitol complex in early 2021.

In her first post, Greene wrote, “She turned the Capital complex into a military base even though no army or threat ever arrived.” (August 12, 2025). In a follow-up tweet moments later, she added, “Complete with gates and checkpoints that kept the American people out.” (August 12, 2025).

Greene further elaborated in another tweet: “The Capital was surrounded with fencing topped with razor wire and literally none of the American people were allowed into the People’s House. I took this video March 9, 2021.” (August 12, 2025).

These comments refer to security actions taken following the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., when fencing and barriers were installed around congressional buildings as part of heightened protective measures.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has maintained her seat in Congress through several election cycles. She won re-election in 2024 against Shawn Harris with approximately 64% of the vote and previously defeated Marcus Flowers in 2022 and Kevin Van Ausdal in 2020 by significant margins.
