Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a U.S. Representative from Georgia, posted a series of statements on her social media account on October 8, 2025, addressing Senate procedures, the state of health insurance, and her motivations for entering Congress.
In a post from October 8, 2025, Greene commented on recent Senate actions, stating, “The Republican controlled Senate used the nuclear option today to override the 60 vote rule in order to confirm over 100 Trump nominees, yet continues to claim Democrats are causing the shutdown. Spoiler alert, the Republicans in the Senate can also use the nuclear option to”.
Later that day, Greene addressed issues with health insurance, writing on October 8, 2025, “This is literally the same story I hear day in and day out. Our health insurance system is crushing people. And there is currently no easy off ramp.”
In a subsequent post on October 8, 2025, Greene responded to criticism regarding her stance within her party: “‘MTG is suddenly turning on Republicans and Trump!’ Wrong. Listen to why I ran in the first place. In April 2023, in a 60 Minutes interview, MTG said that the very reason she ran for Congress was seeing the ‘House and the Senate completely fail to deliver the agenda that we had”.
Greene has held her congressional seat since first winning election in 2020. She secured reelection in subsequent cycles, defeating Kevin Van Ausdal in 2020 with nearly three-quarters of the vote, Marcus Flowers in 2022 with almost two-thirds of the vote, and Shawn Harris in 2024 with over sixty percent of the vote.
