Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who represented Georgia’s 14th district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, posted a series of statements on social media on April 15, 2026, addressing federal surveillance powers and tax law.

On April 15, Greene wrote: “When I was in Congress, they pressured us big time to vote for a clean renewal of FISA 702. They even used examples of American protestors against the war in Gaza and said 702 was needed bc they could have ties to Hamas. I voted NO to protect Americans, but it passed anyways with https://t.co/QpwbI3jLgt https://t.co/EDFIG139pU”. This statement was made as part of an ongoing national discussion about the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Section 702, which authorizes warrantless surveillance of foreign targets but has faced criticism over its potential impact on Americans’ privacy rights.

Later that day, Greene shared another post referencing journalist Glenn Greenwald: @ggreenwald

In a separate message posted on April 15, Greene addressed federal income taxes: “Today, millions of Americans volunteer to pay federal income tax that actually is not required by law. https://t.co/zW0LDTRyqz”.

Marjorie Taylor Greene began serving in Congress after winning her seat in the November 2020 general election. She defeated Kevin Van Ausdal with approximately 74.7% of the vote. She continued her tenure by defeating Marcus Flowers in the 2022 general election with nearly two-thirds of the vote and Shawn Harris in the 2024 general election by a similar margin. Greene replaced Tom Graves as representative for Georgia’s 14th district and has been noted for her outspoken views on several issues throughout her career. Born in Milledgeville, Georgia in 1974, she resides in Rome.
