Lisa Strack has been appointed as the new principal of West End Elementary School, effective June 1, according to a March 10 announcement by Rome City Schools. The decision was approved by the Rome City Schools Board of Education during its March meeting at the Rome High School College and Career Academy.

Strack will succeed Dr. Dennis Drummond, who is set to become the Assistant Superintendent for Rome City Schools on the same date. This leadership change comes as part of ongoing efforts to maintain strong educational standards in the district.

“I am honored to be named the principal of West End. West End is the community that raised my children and shaped my career. Having grown here as both a teacher and a leader, it is a great privilege to give back to the place that has given my family so much. As I return to the West End community, my mission remains the same: to serve with heart and lead with excellence,” Strack said. “Elm Street is the place that grounded me. I began my career in education here as a paraprofessional, and these past three years as principal have prepared me for this next step. Together with the students, faculty, staff, and the community I have served, we have accomplished so much. I will forever be grateful for such a special place. My heart has always been with Rome City Schools, and the most exciting part of all of this is we are all wolves, just a few blocks away, but always one pack.”

Strack currently serves as principal at Elm Street Elementary School since 2023. During her tenure there, Elm Street received several distinctions including PBIS Distinguished School status, Math Leader School recognition, John Hancock School designation from the Georgia Department of Education, Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness for two consecutive years, and STEM Certification.

Her career began at Elm Street as a paraprofessional before she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Shorter University and moved into teaching roles at West End Elementary. Over more than ten years at West End she worked in various capacities such as science and social studies teacher, math teacher and coach, assistant principal, and was recognized as both West End’s Teacher of the Year and Rome City Schools District Teacher of the Year in 2014.
