Gordon Health and Rehabilitation ranked as Gordon County’s largest nursing home in Q1 2026

Gordon Health and Rehabilitation was identified as the largest nursing home in Gordon County for the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

The facility offered 117 beds, exceeding the county’s average by eight beds for the first quarter of 2026. On average, 113.2 residents received care at the center during this time.

Gordon Health and Rehabilitation received an overall CMS rating of 5 out of 5, surpassing the 2.7 average rating for Georgia nursing homes.

During Q1 2026, Calhoun Crossing of Journey, LLC was the county’s second largest nursing home, with 100 available beds.

Gordon Health and Rehabilitation reported no fines or penalties during the first quarter of 2026.

There was one non-profit nursing home in Gordon County, Georgia, during this period.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate that the nation’s older adult population is rising while the number of younger Americans is shrinking. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, compared to a 1.7% decrease in the population under 18. The older adult population has expanded significantly since 1920, increasing from 4.9 million to over 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 report estimates that nearly 50% of adults in this age category, around 28 million people, are expected to need long-term services and supports. The analysis further indicates that more than one-third might require nursing home care at some point.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
