FOIA Request to Georgia Highlands College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Georgia Highlands College. This request seeks detailed information about the institution’s current Chinese National students and related policies.

Specifically, we have requested documents or lists that reveal the number of current students who are Chinese Nationals, categorized by their department of study. Additionally, we seek information on scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. Furthermore, we have asked for details about any recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Our inquiry also extends to understanding how Georgia Highlands College monitors its students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard the university’s Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing transparency in government actions. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such records is vital for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency.

We anticipate that this request will help shed light on important aspects of student demographics and institutional policies at Georgia Highlands College.
