Dr. Eric Robertson has been appointed as the new principal of Main Elementary School, according to an announcement from Rome City Schools. He had been serving as interim principal since early January and was approved for the permanent position during the February board meeting held at Rome High School College and Career Academy.
“I’m honored and grateful to be named principal of Main Elementary,” Dr. Robertson said. “Since I began my time as interim principal in early January, it was clear that Main is a special school with a strong sense of community and a deep commitment to students. Moving forward, my priority is to build on that foundation by strengthening relationships, supporting our teachers and staff, and keeping student growth at the center of every decision. When families, educators, and students feel supported and connected, great things happen.”
Dr. Robertson holds a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership with a focus on Special Education Leadership. He also has advanced degrees in Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, Mathematics, and Communications. His previous roles include RTA/Central Office Program Administrator, Assistant Principal, SPED Instructional Coach, SPED Department Chair, Mathematics Department Chair, SPED Teacher, Mathematics Teacher, and Elementary Teacher.
In addition to his educational background, Dr. Robertson served eight years in the United States Marine Corps and currently serves as Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Cedartown.
Among his achievements are helping guide Main Elementary to recognition as a PBIS Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education and participating in the RCS Aspiring Leader Academy. His work focuses on closing achievement gaps so all students can graduate ready for college or employment.
Rome City Schools operates public elementary through high school programs in Rome, Georgia according to its official website.
