In the 2024-25 school year, Chattooga High School had 37 multiracial students enrolled, a decrease of 2.6% from the prior year, reports from the Georgia Department of Education show.
Total enrollment at Chattooga High School reached 755 students for 2024-25. Multiracial students accounted for 5% of the student body, making them the school’s smallest demographic group.
The campus belongs to the Chattooga County School District, which maintains its central office in Summerville.
Within the district’s five schools, Leroy Massey Elementary School had the highest number of multiracial students in 2024-25, enrolling 82.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Georgia public school enrollment by race and ethnicity was around 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism has continued to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address this, the department introduced new efforts such as a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness initiative, and support for high-need districts to promote regular attendance.
In 2025, Georgia’s legislature approved a bill amending school attendance policies to prohibit expulsion solely due to absenteeism. The new law also requires additional reporting and supports alternative diploma-earning methods for students.
By 2026, Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio reached about 14:1, improving upon the national average ratio of 15:1.
