Calhoun High School has announced that 51 students have received AP Scholar distinctions from the College Board for their performance on Advanced Placement (AP) exams in 2025.
The school offers 16 AP courses, which is a broad selection compared to other schools of similar size. These courses allow students to earn college credit before graduating high school.
In 2025, Calhoun High School reported that 72% of its AP exam takers achieved a score of 3 or higher. This marks a 14% increase from the previous year and brings the school’s pass rate in line with state and national averages. The school plans to set higher goals for the next academic year.
Three levels of AP Scholar Awards were given:
AP Scholar is awarded to students who score 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. The average score among these recipients at Calhoun High School was 3.41. Students recognized at this level include Morgan Allen, Alexzander Allison, Eduardo Arreguin, Daniel Brook, Dossen Canders, Lindsey Cox, McKenna Craig, Steven Do, Louisa Engel, Isabella Garmon, Jayden Heath, Matthew Hurley, Matthew Jordan, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Debora Lopez, Aidan Lyles, Pippa McKinney, Nathaniel Nation, Prachhi Patel, Easton Sewell, Jack Theus, Gabriel Tran and Holland West.
AP Scholar with Honor is granted to those who earn an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams. The average score for this group was 3.79. Recipients are Merrill Akridge, Hollis Crowe, Anne Eickman, Trent Ferguson, Fabian Nunez, Oscar Orellana-Morales, Callie Rice, Max Richardson, Noah Schutz, Anthony Velazquez and Jeremiah Zuniga.
AP Scholar with Distinction goes to students earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams. The average for these recipients was 4.03. Honorees are William Anderson, Mandy Chen, Huong Do, Jemma Ellis, Ashly Gallardo, Christopher He, Selinne Martinez Cardoza Jaylan Moore Aryan B Patel Fairy Patel Aaron Prine Marley Reyes Ugarte Caleb Riley Tyler Robinson Georgia Smith Elliot Stephens and Isaac Tibbs.
According to the release: “The AP Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to honor high school students who demonstrate college-level achievement through AP courses and exams.”
It was also noted that “the College Board no longer recognizes the former ‘National AP Scholar’ award.”
