Calhoun City Schools honors Eddie Reeves with multiple tributes and scholarship

Calhoun City Schools is commemorating the life and contributions of Eddie Reeves, who was known as the “Voice of the Jackets.” Reeves was recognized for his dedication as a husband, father, friend, and leader within the school community.

A series of events have been scheduled to honor his memory. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, visitation will take place at Thomas Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. The following day, Friday, October 3, there will be a pregame field recognition with Reeves’s family before the Calhoun High School homecoming game at 6:30 p.m. During this event, the Calhoun City Schools Board of Education and Calhoun High School administration will present a plaque for the press box in his honor. The Touchdown Club will also present a paver for Jacket Pride Park. The evening will include a moment of silence and Bailey Reeves performing the National Anthem.

A memorial service is set for Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Church.

On Monday, October 27 during the Board of Education meeting at 6 p.m., there will be formal recognition of Reeves’s service with the naming of the Eddie Reeves Boardroom.

Additionally, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, during Calhoun High School Honors Night, the Eddie Reeves Memorial Scholarship will be presented.

“Eddie leaves behind a legacy of excellence, faith, and service that will continue to inspire us all. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Calhoun City Schools community,” according to an official statement from Calhoun City Schools.
