Brittany Little has been appointed as the new principal of Elm Street Elementary School, effective June 1, according to a Mar. 23 announcement from Rome City Schools. The Rome City Schools Board of Education approved her appointment during a called board meeting at the Central Office.
Little will succeed current principal Lisa Strack, who will become the principal at West End Elementary on the same date. In a statement, Little said, “Elm Street is an extraordinary place in so many ways, and I am honored to have the opportunity to continue serving this school community by moving into the role of Principal. I hope that we remain closely connected as a school family, working together as partners to support every child. I genuinely care about each student at Elm Street Elementary, and I want to continue to build on the progress we have made over the past few years.”
Little has worked at Elm Street for nearly ten years in various roles including second grade teacher, academic coach, instructional specialist, and most recently assistant principal since January 2023. Before joining Elm Street Elementary, she taught at North Heights Elementary School from 2011 until 2017. She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from Auburn University and completed Educational Tier 1 Leadership training at the University of West Georgia.
