The Stroke Survivor Support Group, organized by Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, will begin meeting on November 6. The group is scheduled to meet at noon on the first Thursday of each month at Suite 101, 304 Shorter Ave., Rome.

The support group aims to connect stroke survivors so they can share experiences and learn strategies for daily living. Breanna Merrell, RN, coordinator of stroke care at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, said, “This support group provides attendees the opportunity to get fresh ideas and share useful information with other stroke survivors.”

Meetings will cover topics such as general stroke education, nutrition, disease management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, spiritual support, emotional wellbeing, community resources, and peer support. For more information or to attend the group, individuals are encouraged to contact Merrell at 706-509-5994.

Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center holds a Primary Stroke Center designation from The Joint Commission. This certification recognizes the hospital’s ability to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes for stroke patients.
