Alto Park Elementary School counted three Asian students among its enrollment for 2024-25, based on figures from the Georgia Department of Education.
The school reported a total student population of 381 for the 2024-25 period. Asian students made up 1% of that number, ranking as one of the smaller demographic groups at the school.
Alto Park Elementary is part of the Floyd County School District, which has its main office located in Rome.
Of the 14 schools in the district, Armuchee High School reported the highest number of Asian enrollees for 2024-25, with 18 students.
The National Center for Education Statistics reports that Georgia’s public schools included approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander students.
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In response, the Georgia Department of Education introduced initiatives such as a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and support targeted toward districts with greater needs in order to improve daily attendance.
By 2025, Georgia legislators updated state attendance statutes to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. The legislation also requires additional reporting and coordinates with programs to help students graduate through alternative pathways.
As of 2026, Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio stood at about 14:1, a figure below the national average of 15:1.
